The School of Ocean Sailing has classes for sailing newcomers, and for those wanting to learn advanced ocean navigation. With base in Portland, the Coastal Cruising navigation courses sail the Maine Coast and the Caribbean Sea. Courses are five to six days long, contact School of Ocean Sailing for details.

Olde Port Mariner Fleet features the Casablanca dinner cruises,
the Indian 2 fishing trips, and the Oddessy whale watching tours. Other activities include scenic harbor cruises, lobster bakes, and more. Fishing begins in the last week of April and sets out every day starting in July. The Oddessy and the Casablanca start on Memorial Day, and begin daily tours in July. Available for private functions.

Step aboard this Portland windjammer to experience traditional sailing. The Frances, a 74-foot motorless sloop, takes patrons by scenic islands, historic monuments and lighthouses. Three-day public sails are offered daily from Tuesday to Sunday. Private charters are also available.

Palawan, a 58 foot ocean racer will take you cruising along Portland's historic Casco Bay. Trips can include up to 24 people. Day long sails are available and offers an on-board buffet while anchored at an island cove. Two hour trips are availalbe in the morning, while two and three hour trips are scheduled in the afternoon.

Lucky Catch Lobstering is set aboard a 37 foot Maine-built lobster boat, which is smooth and stable on the rough waters. The tour consists of close-up viewing of lighthouses and civil war forts, seal-watching, and of course pulling lobsters out of the water. The cruises last about 90 minutes, and are available during the summer.
