When the Portland Public Market closed its doors in 2006, four of its original vendors moved into the Public Market House on Monument Square to continue the tradition. Today, more vendors have joined the market and visitors will find freshly-baked artisan bread, a microbrewing company, and a specialty food shop with fine cheeses, gourmet foods and gifts. The market house also houses a prepared meals cooperative, a Greek cafe and day tables, which small businesses and producers can use to sell their fresh produce or locally-made products. Open daily.
